How do categories work in the app picker?

The app picker is provided by Apple, and Screenable has no control over it, nor can we see what apps or categories you select – only the number selected.

Categories do not work as you might expect in Apple's app picker. In short, they have no effect on future selections. So if they appear selected, it just means that all apps within them are currently selected. New apps that are installed on your kid's device in the future will not be automatically selected.

In the example below, the 2 selected categories (Games and Education) simply mean that all apps within them are currently selected. The Education category is expanded so you can see all apps within it.
