How can I choose which apps are allowed on a device?

All device modes allow you to choose which apps to allow (or alternatively block/remove) on your kids' devices, but they do so slightly differently.

All modes support controlling the following:

  • Browsers
    • In all modes, you can decide to remove web/internet browsers (including Safari). This will hide them entirely. Learn more about removing browsers.
  • Camera
    • In all modes, you can decide to allow the camera or not.
  • App Store
  • Apple apps
    • In all modes, you can remove Apple apps you don't want. Here's how you do that:
      • Open the Screenable parent app, go to the Home tab, and tap your kid's name.
      • Scroll down and tap Allowed Apple Utilities (Screen Trainer mode) or Allowed Apple apps (Dumb Phone mode), and make your selection.
      • For more advice, read about which Apple apps to allow.

Dumb Phone mode also allows you to:

  • Block other apps

Screen Trainer mode also allows you to control:

  • Apps with no time limit
    • These apps will always be available and will not count towards daily usage time limits. Learn more about apps with no time limit.
