What are Apple utilities? Should I remove them?
There are a number of apps that Apple considers to be utilities, which unfortunately means they are not subject to daily limits or bedtime/schooltime schedules. This means that kids can use them even when their device is supposed to be unusable. We recommend removing them all, except for special circumstances or kid needs. (In fact, they're removed by default in all device modes – but you can adjust that by following the directions below.)
How can I remove Apple utilities?
- In the Screenable parent app, open your kid's settings for a specific device.
- Scroll down and:
- In Dumb Phone mode, tap Allowed Apple apps.
- In Screen Trainer mode, tap Allowed Apple utilities.
- Select the ones you want to allow and press save.

If you are noticing other apps that appear to be always available (i.e. not subject to daily limits or bedtime/schooltime schedules), troubleshoot here.
